LGBTQ SITES and ORGANIZATIONS:

Colage

For “people with a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender parent”,  it’s a place for those raised in a “queer” household to connect with one another.  The site also maintains great articles for kids AND parents, info about camps, meeting groups and chapters, all kinds of stuff for those with a “Modern Family”.

Gay Activist Alliance Morris County

The site of the Gay Activist Alliance in Morris County.  The site has their calendar of events and an informational resource page.

Gay Center

This is the site of NYC’s LGBT Center.  If you live in or near NYC, this is definitely the place to go – it’s huge, with hundreds of  GLBT support, social and advocacy groups and events, and mental health services.

Gay Lesbian Medical Association

The site of the Gay Lesbian Medical Association provides news about L/G/B/T health and some resources; they also have an informative e-newsletter of L/G/B/T health news.

Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network

This is the website of the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network, an organization devoted to making schools safe for L/G/B/T students.  Lots of info about gay youth issues as well as anti-bullying, school GSA’s (gay/straight associations) and other related issues.

Gay Yellow Pages

The Gay Yellow Pages is a massive directory of U.S. businesses and services directed towards the gay and lesbian (GLBT) community.

GoGrad

Scholarship & Financial Aid resource for LGBTQ students. The guide provides a comprehensive list of scholarships for LGBTQ students planning for their graduate education.

Hudson Pride

The Hudson Pride Connections Center in Jersey City, the organization serves New Jersey and specifically the Hudson County area.  There is special support for youth, seniors, and people with HIV as well as for the general LGBTQ community.  Other GLBT support groups exist as well.  The organization offers a drop-in center for 13-24 year olds, tutoring, wellness programs and many other services.  This is the group that sponsors the Hudson Pride Festival and Parade each year.

Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gay Men

Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gay Men is also for friends and families of anyone in the L/G/B/T/Q community and has chapters worldwide.

Pridenet

Pridenet is a national listing of L/G/B/T services, businesses and organizations, listed state by state.  It also has useful little tidbits about each state – e.g., whether they have domestic partnership or marriage laws, sodomy laws, vacation spots, etc.

Pride Center

Information about activities at the Pride Center in Highland Park, NJ (Central New Jersey, near New Brunswick).

Rainbow Familes of New Jersey

Rainbow Families of New Jersey plans events for L/G/B/T parents and their kids throughout the year.  A great way for parents – and kids – to connect.

Safe Zone

This site, maintained by Florida State University, contains a lot of good FAQ pages and resources.

Shout Out Health

“because homophobia is alive and well in health care” – a site for L/G/B/T healthcare.

Stop Gay Hate

A site with lots of info and resources about coming out, dealing with homophobia, legal issues, and other L/G/B/T issues.

BISEXUALITY SITES:

Binet USA

An advocacy group for bisexual, pansexual and fluid communities, with a website that covers everything you ever wanted to know about bisexuality.  There are facts and information sheets, listings of organizations and events, personal stories, a blog and a wiki that could be a book.

Bi Resource

NY Area Bisexual Network

This very busy website of the New York Area Bisexual Network is invaluable if you live in or near the city.  Lots of listings of groups and activities as well as lots of info.

TRANSGENDER SITES:

The Gender Identify Reform Project

The Gender Identity Reform Project – “Because our identities are not disordered” is primarily concerned with fighting mental health forces that pathologize gender identity issues.

Gender Spectrum

The site of an organization devoted to helping gender variant children and youth, it contains information and resources.  One of the Directors is Stephanie Brill, the co-author of “The Transgender Child”.

Gender Soul

The site of a transgender psychologist, meant to “affirm, educate, bring hope and heal the lives of those who live with conflict between their birth sex and their gender identity”.

National Centrer for Transgender Equality

Website of NCTE – the National Center for Transgender Equality – an advocacy and rights group.

Transgender Forum

A “community center” online with message boards and chats as well as listings of transgender support groups all over the country, with a searchable database.

Transgender Support Group – Pathways

This is the site of a transgender support group in Bergen County; it contains links to other NY/NJ/PA transgender resources.

Transmen

The site of the world’s oldest organization for transmen – FTM transgender people.

World Professional Association for Transgender Health

The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (formerly Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association) – this is the official site for the WPATH Standards of Care (SOC) .  These are the ethical and scientific guidelines for how medical and mental health professionals should treat and support transgender people who desire hormonal or surgical treatments to transition.

Transexual Roadmap

This very extensive site is by and for transwomen.  Contains activist material as well as information about transitioning, psychological issues, etc.

Trans-Health Magazine

An online magazine devoted to transgender health issues.

Trans Youth Family Allies

Trans Youth Family Allies is an organization that gives information, support and advocacy to transgender kids and teens and their families.  Their website is an indispensable resource.

Community Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sexualities (CARAS)

Community Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sexualities (CARAS) is an organization which supports and disseminates research on BDSM/kink/leather/fetish sexualities and non-monogamous relationships.

The Eulenspiegel Society

The Eulenspiegel Society (TES) is one of the oldest and largest organizations based in New York City which promotes sexual liberation for adults who enjoy consensual BDSM/Leather/Fetish sex.  This site also includes a calendar of upcoming events and workshops.

Fet Life

This is a very popular free social-networking site for the GLBT, kink, BDSM and fetish communities with over 30,000 groups, links to local events and thousands of blog posts.

Kink Academy

Great resource for adult sex education in BDSM, polyamory, fetish, kink, swinging and other alternative sexualities.  This site has an elaborate library of 600 videos for adults who are interested in learning about specific BDSM techniques, relationships and role plays.

National Coalition for Sexual Freedom

The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom is an advocacy and educational organization which supports the legal and civil rights of consenting adults in the BDSM-Leather- Fetish, Swing and Polyamory communities.  This site also has the Kink Aware Professionals (KAP) Directory.

Couples Study

A trail-blazing article written by Lanz Lowen and Blake Spears about long-term male couples in non-monogamous relationships.

Love More

Loving More is one of the largest national organizations dedicated to providing education and support to people who identify as polyamorous.

More Than Two

Franklin Veaux’ collection of writings about polyamory and ethical non-monogamy, including many how-to guides.

Polyamory FAQ’s

This site includes several on-line primers and frequently asked questions about polyamory, written by Franklin Veaux.

Practical Polyamory

Anita Wagner’s educational website for polyamorists.  This site also provides several links to finding poly-friendly therapists and other professionals.
