NOTE: THIS THERAPY GROUP IS CURRENTLY ON HIATUS. WE WE DO NOT KNOW WHETHER IT WILL RESUME IN THE FUTURE.
So-called sex addiction, or pornography addiction, is a controversial topic, but most professionals agree that some form of support group is part of the recommended treatment for people dealing with sexually compulsive behavior. So we’re pleased to announce our Men’s Sexual Health Group: Coping with Out of Control Sexual Behavior.
This men’s support group employs a groundbreaking new style of psychotherapy that is an alternative to the traditional 12-step approach. Each group member defines his own goals with the help of the group therapists. Since few people want long-term celibacy, the group will help you develop your own definition of healthy sexual behavior. Group members and counselors will work together to help develop coping skills and to figure out what is “behind” the pornography or sex addiction compulsion. This is done in a supportive, compassionate, and shame-free atmosphere.
If you are already in treatment with another provider, that’s not a problem. You can keep your individual therapist while you participate in our therapy group and we will work closely with them. But we can also provide one-on-one counseling with one of our many experienced therapists, most of whom have some specialized training and/or certification in sex therapy and addiction. If you are in a relationship we can also include your partner in your treatment plan, as appropriate, in the form of marriage counseling/couples therapy. Since IPG is a leader in the field of sex addiction therapy, we are uniquely suited to help pornography and sex “addicts” build a positive sexuality.
